I am using expression encoder 4 pro in an attempt to encode live video. My windows platform is Windows 7 Professionl 64 bit. The PC workstation I am using has 2 Intel Xeon X5670 2.93GHz processors with 12 GB of memory. I am using a DecBride DecLink video capture card. I am attempting to encode an H.264 IIS Smooth Stream Low bandwith. I can successfully connect to the IIS 7 smooth stream publishing point. I can successfully cue my video source. My problem occurs when I attempt to start encoding, the encoding process does not start but I do not recieve any error messages. The "Start" button highlights for a second and then fades. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Are there any log files stored anywhere that may contain error informaton? I appreciate any assistance. Thanks.

I have seen similar symptoms when we make a call to a device's DShow stack and, for whatever reason, if fails to return to the application layer. In that instance the UI is left waiting for the response to the call into the DShow layer.

In the interim, if you'd download Amcap which is a free DShow based basic capture utility shipped with DirectShow, then attempt a basic non IIS Smooth streaming capture to a file.  I'd be very much interested in if you see a similar result.
