Microsoft documentation does not list Windows Server 2016 as a supported platform for VS 2015 Professional.

I receive an error about a package missing or damaged during installation.

However, there were some comments that people were able to install and run VS2015 on Windows Server 2016.

Please clarify whether Visual Studio 2015 Professional can be installed and run on Windows Server 2016.

Welcome to the MSDN forum.

I tried to install VS2015 pro version in my server 2016. As a result of I can install it fine (as I shown below)

Based on your description, some missing happens during installation, before installation, you need install all pending hotfix in windows updates and clean-up %temp% folder and run it as admin.

If this issue still persists. I need your help to collect installation log. Please use  the Microsoft Visual Studio and .NET Framework Log Collection Tool to gather the installation logs. After using it, you will find vslogs.zip under %temp% folder. Please upload the file to https://onedrive.live.com/ and share the link here.

After that, we will do our best to diagnose it as soon as possible.
