We are setting up a new Windows server for CI builds and thought it would be a good idea to use the latest Microsoft Server version but couldn't find if Visual Studio 2015 (our oldest required compiler version) would be compatible to run  on Windows Server 2019. So the question is whether we can reasonably expect to use Visual Studio 2015 on Windows Server 2019 or should we install an older Server OS?

As far as I know, we can install the VS 2015 on the Windows Server 2019. I made a testing in my computer, it works fine as below:
