Hi,

I can't seem to find the answer to my question in a forum post. so please redirect me if one exists. 

what i'd like to do is to assign materials against a task e.g. 

build a wall = 10 hours

bricks = 1000

cement = 50kg 

then if a brick is = $1 i can see that the bricks will cost me $1000. 

In the resource sheet i expect that the resource would be brick @ $1 

this way i can copy and paste the project and adjust quantities for different projects

You create/define the resources that you will need in the resource sheet.

You define a resource as either a work type or a material type resource in the Type column, which is the next column from the Name column.

You need:
Bob the Bricklayer, work type, std rate =

50/hour
Brick, material type, std rat =

1

Then in the Gantt Chart view, create a task named "Lay 1000 bricks" with a duration 10 hours.
Use Resource, Assign Resources to assign Bob and 10000 units of Brick.
Then in the Cost Table you can see that the task costs
