We are running latest TFS2017 with update 1 installation for our On-Prem instance of TFS.

I am am looking for a way to optimize the creation of release templates, and Task Groups generally have made the process a breeze. However, there is seemingly no easy way to replicate or clone release Task Groups across team projects.

Currently, there isn’t the REST API for task groups.

您可以先将构建/发布定义复制/克隆到另一个团队项目，然后在新团队项目中创建一个任务组，其中包含克隆构建所需的任务/发布定义。

You can Copy/Clone the build/Release definition to another team project first, then create a Task Group in the new team project with the needed tasks from the cloned build/Release definition.

You can install the extension Export/Import Build Definition for exporting and importing the build definition cross team projects. The export and import Release Definition has been integrated in TFS 2017 Update1.
