we recently updated from TFS2015.2.1 to TFS2017.1 on Premise. After the upgrade the Find Shelvesets functionality in the Studios 2013, 2015 and 2017 is not displaying shelvesets any more when we search for an other colleagues name, even though the user has shelvesets. When we search for the persons login name (which is a cryptic number), then the shelvesets will be displaced again. but this number cannot be recognized by any other user besides the one who needs to login with it.

Our general company naming guideline for Person's names is aligned with the german industry norm DIN 5007 which generally handles sorting of strings, so also names of natural persons. Our format is "FamiliyName, FirstName", which is very common to be used in germany. We found a Microsoft page (https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/docs/reference/naming-restrictions) that states that ',' is not supported for account names, so this could be the reason, but actually this would be a real pain for all companies having the employees named stored like us.

Using the Web UX the resolution is working, but actually this seams to be the fact because there is a auto completion in place that does not result in really specifying the Displayname. When we past in the Displayname without the trailing login information, then the search is also not successful.

It can’t find the shelvesets with the display name contains special characters (e.g. ,).

I recommend that you can remove special characters, you can use FamiliyName Firstname.
