I want to complete a project which I have bee thinking of, problem is with the new release of Kinect for Windows V2 I'm not sure which system would be best. Let me give a rough outline of what my project is.

I would like to create a program that uses the skeletal tracking feature of the Kinect to monitor the movement of users through some compound exercises. For Example tracking the movement of Knee's, Hip, torso , upper back and head during a weighted squat. I was hoping that with data I would be able to model it in a way, that could help professional coaches better coach athletes or beginners.

My problem is that; although I am familiar with programming, I am yet to use the Kinect in a project. Currently the V2 sensor is out of stock where I live (the UK), although I have emailed, I haven't received a date when it would be back in stock. I'm not sure whether the Kinect V1 sensor is capable of this and have been struggling to find a comparison of the V1 and V2 sensors.
