I am in the process of applying PS2010 SP1 and it gives me this error: "Expected version of the product was not found on the system". I already have SP2010 SP1 installed as the client already had this app and wanted PS2010 to be installed later.

Have you checked control panel, program and features installed if the SP1 already installed as part of the ProjectServer setup.

if above doesnt work, then verify if you have language pack installed in your environment? because your entire envrionement needs to be updated to SP1 level and since you already have applied SP2010 SP1. if language pack exist, apply language pack SP1 first and then apply PS2010 SP1 and hopefully it will work. also do not forget to apply Jun CU after applying SP1.
