Is it legal according to Microsoft that we can install Visual Studio Community Edition after expiration of a previous trail version of Professional Edition on a same system. As i am facing this issues in my institution as they are saying that i cannot install any microsoft visual studio product even free one's after that trial version of Visual Studio Professional expires.

It seems you can freely use the Vs community version per this license terms, right? If so, as my understanding, you can also use it after the VS professional version is expired.

Please firstly uninstall the professional version, then download the VS community version to install.
