I'm hosting our repo on Team Foundation Service, and our code has multiple branches, but in Visual Studio 2012, I'm only able to see "master" under Published Branches. How do I view and check out from the other branches without resorting to the command line?

I'd like to confirm with you whether you only published "master" branches. You can try to create a different branch via VS and then publish it to see whether the new one can be displayed in team explorer. If it's still unavailable, please share your scenario and the screenshot. You can also view the branches by Team Web Access.
