  We are in the initial stages of a Project Server 2010 implementation and wanted to ask around for best practices on Project Site hiearchy.  Right now the system creates a project site automatically at the root of PWA anytime a project is created (ex. https://<projectserver>/PWA/<Project Site> )  We have different departments using PRJ Server 2010 and I could imagine that over time it may get pretty messy when browsing project sites.  Is there a way to group project sites based on Project Type in a logical manner?  Thanks in advance!

You can create Project Custom field to identify specific department and use custom event handler in association with EPT which can read project custom field and based on that can create workspace site in specific site collection.
