I have a web part page that is displaying pivot tables from an Excel file stored in the site's document library. When I try to refresh data I am getting a message that the "External Data Refresh Failed." I opened the file and looked at the Connection Properties dialog box. The path to the connection file is pointing to my c:\Users\ folder on my computer. This doesn't seem right. Is this a result of editing the Excel on my computer and re-uploading it to the library? I have done this because of the refresh fail. I see there is an Export Connection File, but I don't know where I should store that if I export it. Should it just go in my document library or is there a special location for them?

The way I solve this is to separate the data from the charts.
