Having searched the forums and the web for advice on this issue, I've found no relevant discussions. Though, there are plenty of complaints about InstallShield, both from a general perspective as well as with respect to its integration in Visual Studio (or lack thereof).

Still, at the risk of clearing one hurdle just to be presented with a dozen more, I figured I might as well ask...

I've just installed Visual Studio 2012. When I follow the instructions for enabling InstallShield (sadly, the new Microsoft-endorsed replacement for the previous Microsoft-provided setup project), which involves a page on MSDN which links to a page on the Flexera web site, where I am required to provide a bunch of personal information before I can click on the "Download" button, even after jumping through all the hoops, I am unable to download the software.

Instead, the Flexera web site keeps causing a "Windows Security" pop-up to appear, demanding that I enter a username and password.

This pop-up in fact appears when I try to navigate to any page on the Flexera web site, including the "registration" page. But at least the registration page eventually displays. The download however winds up entirely blocked.

There are lots of alternative installer options, including the open-source WiX which I will definitely try. But on the off-chance that a person could ever actually get InstallShield downloaded, installed, and working correctly, I thought I'd see what advice I might be able to get here.

Anyone know how to get past Flexera's website's security pop-ups?

Thanks for your post.

You would best be served by contacting their support teams as it is a third-party solution to VIsual Studio. I've tried to update it from my side. The windows security is asking for registration from flexra web site.
