I have tried to REMOVE Windows Search using the Add/Remove method, but that method has an intimidation note that says other programs on my computer may depend on Windows Search and may not work properly if I remove it, so I did not remove it.  I went into the Services folder and STOPPED it and DISABLED it, however, the Windows Search window still opens whenever I try to open a folder in My Documents (although it says it is not running!)   Is it true that other programs will be affected if I use the Add/Remove method to remove Windows Search 4.0?  I am using Windows XP Home Edition.  If possible, please also send a reply to my email address ([e-mail]) because I have trouble finding forums once I leave them!  Thanks,  Paul.

You should be safe removing Windows Search 4.0 through Add/Remove Programs. In general the warning message is just a precaution ...
