Suddenly I am unable to open an excel spreadsheet in Excel; it defaults to the browser, and if I click on edit in Excel I get the following error:

The document could not be opened for editing. A Microsoft SharePoint foundation compatible application could not be found to edit the document.

I am running Windows 10, SharePoint 2010, and Excel 64 bit version 14.0.6023.1000.  I am using IE 11.

If I log into another computer with the same programs and version the file will open in Excel as I need it to, just not on mine and we have several people in the same organization with the same problem, but differing versions of programs.  I'm lost!  Help!
