Visual studio templates are not made for a .Net version beside in past with VS2002 to 2005. 

They are Templates for Visual Studio and fit as long as the used code (upwards) fits for all versions from version 2005 to 2017.

Currently with Visual Studio 2017 you can use all frameworks from 2.0 to 4.7

However, there is a page from where you can load templetates if you miss one.
