Hi, I' trying to use windows 7 new backup utility to backup my documents and important files.  Well my destination drive is a IDE 80 gb which I use only to backup my files.  My backup set is about 45 gb, so in theory I'm fine.  The first backup set works ok.  But when I start a second backup it does not overwrite my previous backup file and append (or increment) the one that is already there and it never completes (get an error) because the IDE drive is getting full.  Now I've looked into the backup utility settings and there's no way to tell the system to OVERWRITE my previous backup file.  It seems windows decide what my backup needs are and do what it will in a stupid way, if at least it would detect I have not enough space for a 2nd backup and overwrites the 1st, but it's not the case.   So what I need to do is go in the backup utility and manually delete my old set with the "manage disk space" option.   Previously I was using the simple but effective backup/restore tool from win 2003 server create my selection and schedule it in scheduled task, in win 2003 it did what I needed.  Now a new OS, a new backup utility and there we are a huge backward step back.  What's wrong here ?  Is there a way to tell windows to overwrite?  I'm not asking much here..

Also, when my PC is sleeping when the backup is scheduled the backup does not run, even after it wakes, but windows notify me that I need to perform my backup (manually), so I need to go manage my space to delete the old set and run the backup manually while I'm using the computer...  The whole Idea here is to be able to auto run backup during night when I'm not using my PC!

Wow, what a backup utility solution, way to go!  I think I can do better with a simple batch file called from scheduled task: like I did way back in 1995!
