Our company sells handheld computers with Windows Mobile or Windows CE and our application.  Our compact framework application talks to various devices via the serail port or bluetooth and sends the information back to a central server via sockets.  From what I read Windows Phone 7 is the new mobile platform but does not support serial ports or sockets.  We have not moved to Visual Studio 2010 because it does not support the compact framework.  I need to know where Microsoft is heading so I can plan for the future of our company, right now it seems like we are screwed.  Any thoughts...am I missing anything?

From what I (think) I understand, what you have read is correct, at least with the current version of Windows Phone.  Perhaps the situation will change, "down the road," but anyone who knows probably cannot say so.
