I need to populate the SharePoint Online discussion board with the posts and messages from a bespoke SQL forum. I guess it will be the same in SP2013. I can't do this directly so I've created a custom list which I will populate in datasheet view by exporting
from SQL. At the moment I'm testing.
Creating the discussion topics in the discussion when I add the information to the custom list is easy. Creating the messages is also easy but the messages appear as discussion topics instead of messages. This is because Discussion topics are based on the folder
content type, so I need to add the message to the correct discussion topic folder.
I can capture the ID of the folder so I know where to put it, and I've added items to folders via workflow previously. However, previously, I added the path of the folder, but in the Message content type, "Path" is not an option in the workflow. Thus,
I'm setting the content type to Message, and the Subject to the folder ID. I suspect the Subject also needs to contain the path but I can't get it to work.
Can anyone help. To clarify, I just need to know how I post a Message into a Discussion folder via a SharePoint workflow. Thanks!

Per my test, I use "create list item" action and select the Discussion board list, I can only add field as Body, Content Type ID, Question, Subject and so on, but not path. Please provide the screenshots with us about your workflow steps.
