I am no expert, but our SharePoint admin at work got retrenched while building our team site and now I need to complete the <g class="gr_ gr_32 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Style multiReplace" data-gr-id="32" id="32">site !</g>

most of it is done expect I need to fix the document filter for each sub site. for example;

Main site = Department

Subsite = Sub Department 1

Subsite = Sub Department 2

Our document library has sub-categories for both <g class="gr_ gr_26 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" data-gr-id="26" id="26">sub departments</g> that are all together.

however, when I click on Sub Department 1 I only want to see documents that are categorised for sub-department 1 and not include 2 as well as it is at the <g class="gr_ gr_35 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Style multiReplace" data-gr-id="35" id="35">moment ?</g>

When you click on Sub Department 1, you only want to see documents that are categorised for sub-department 1 and not include sub-department 2.

Why not just upload documents that are categorised for sub-department 1 to library of Sub Department 1?

You can limited permission on the r sub-department 1, and just allow users of  sub-department 1 to upload  documents that are categorised for sub-department 1 to library of Sub Department 1?

If you have uploaded documents that are categorised for sub-department 2 to library of Sub Department 1, you can modify view to filter only display documents that are categorised for sub-department 1.
