I am trying to create a button on my mainpage.xaml file that brings me to a different .xaml file.

can you explain please a little bit more detailed what you want to do?

Do you want to have 2 windows?

I guess your mainpage.xaml contains a window.

Does the second XAML file also contains a window which you want to open?

Do you want to display different usercontrols, panels, ... on one window?

Does your second XAML contain a user control, panel etc. which you want to display on the window in mainpage.xaml?
