A while ago I tried to install Windows XP Home over Windows 98. I got through the set up of XP but eventually I was given a error screen saying that XP was unable to install on the system. Now when ever I turn on the system all that happens are a few beeps (some where from 4-6 beeps) and my screen remains blank and nothing loads. I was thinking about just buying a new hard drive and trying to reinstall XP Home onto the new hard drive. Although a 40GB hard drive may be cheap, right now I cannot afford to spend money on it. Is there a way I can get the system to start up so I can put 98(yes I have a 98 disk) back onto the system or XP even, without having to buy a new hard drive?
