I am having an issue with loading symbols which are currently loaded by the application running on Windows 8 64bit (on Virtual Machine) and I am debugging it from my workstation where Window 7 64bit installed.

The application running on Windows 8 is 32bit application which loads up 32bits of ntdll.dll, msvcr80.dll, kernel32.dll.

I am trying to load up the symbols of those modules and keep on getting "Cannot load the symbol".

On my cache symbols folder, I have downloaded Windows 8 32bit symbol packages as well as Windows 7 64bit from MSDN.   I do not have any problems with loading those window symbols when the application is running on the same machine as my VS is running on - which is Win7 64bit.

Just cannot load those symbols when the application is running on Windows 8 and trying debug it from Windows 7. By the way my Visual studio is 2005.

Thank you for posting in the MSDN forum.

据我了解，符号包仅适用于您当前正在运行的Windows版本，因此当您在其他Windows版本中运行它时会出现此问题.

As my understanding, the symbol packages are only any use for the version of Windows that you're currently running, so it will has this issue when you run it in other windows version.
