Whenever I try to install .NET Framework with the installer available here, it shows me an error. This is the installation log file:

I've tried the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool. The same error message shows up after I've cleared all installations.

I'm using Windows XP.

What can I do now?

Hi Matt,

after removing all Framework (2, 3, 3.5), follow these steps:

1.    Click on the Start menu, choose Run, type msconfig and click OK

2.       In the System Configuration tool, click on the Services tab

3.       Check the box labeled Hide all Microsoft services

4.       Click the Disable All button to disable all non-Microsoft services

5.       In the System Configuration tool, click on the General tab

6.       Click the Selective startup radio button

7.       Uncheck the box labeled Load startup items

8.       Click OK to accept all changes in the System Configuration tool

9.       Reboot for the changes to take effect

10.       Delete all files in %temp%

11.   Install the .NET Fx 3.5 SP1

12.   In case of failure:

      a.       Download this tool for collecting the .NET installation log: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=12493

       b.      Run this tool

      c.       Upload on your skydrive or send me the %temp% directory ([e-mail]).
