I am trying to synchronise the AD profiles into SharePoint. However, I am coming up with issues when dealing with groups. The groups do not seem to be imported into SharePoint. I am using the "Use SharePoint Active Directory Import" option. And I have tried two queries to add (&(objectCategory=person)(mail=*.*)(objectClass=user)) and (|(&(objectCategory=person)(mail=*.*)(objectClass=user))((objectCategory=group))). The second one has an "Or" clause and includes groups specifically.

For both of them when I do a search for people in SharePoint I can see what groups they are in. However, I cannot seem to find any groups as an object. They don't seem to be imported.

It’s by default that the groups cannot be returned as an object in People search result.

Since the group property import to SharePoint as "MemberOf" property for a user profile, then search for people in SharePoint we can see what groups they are in.
