We've been having an intermittent problem with a particular SharePoint task list syncing with some Outlook clients with no end user action. We have a mix of Outlook 2010 and 2016 clients and, so far, every occurrence has been with an Outlook 2010 client. We know that the end users are not initiating the sync because the SharePoint admins have disabled the the sync to Outlook button on the site. Also, in every case the end user had no idea that the task list had been synced to their client. The result of this unwanted sync is that emails are being generated to task owners for old tasks that have been completed.
