I am fairly new to SharePoint.  I have been tasked with creating a completely custom search experience.  I have been successful in getting out of the box search to work using user profile variables and some XRANK boosts.

What I need to do now is create a search experience using jQuery to Post a Rest query, then process the results I get back.

What I am really hoping is that there is a way to use the JSON returned from a Rest call to use the out of the box refiners and control templates.  Or since I am going custom, do I need to build those custom as well?
