I was sent here by the OneDrive support. We are using OneDrive to access our Sharepoint files. Recently, OneDrive started creating copies when two people try to access the same file. Per my knowledge, With Office and OneDrive or SharePoint, multiple people can work together on a Word document, Excel spreadsheet, or PowerPoint presentation.  When everyone is working at the same time, that's called co-authoring.
