I have a list that I've created to capture manufacturing issues. The original item is created by an operator on the manufacturing floor.  The item then needs to be reviewed by a technician.  The technicians self assign to the issue based on location and shift.  Once assigned they will have to enter information regarding the short term resolution and a long term solution.

The requestor doesn't need to see STR or LTS fields in the form, but the technician does.  I am really new to SharePoint, so could use some help here.  

Can I hide the fields from the requestor and only show them to the technician?  If not, do I need to create a workflow and what kind of workflow?  Any help is greatly appreciated.  I am stuck here.

You can use InfoPath to customize the form and create rules to hide fields based on conditions.
