Our system runs on a SharePoint 2013 web farm on Windows server 2012. Our system is published through private cloud setup. As a standard mitigation process in the event of rollback we do the windows recovery / restore mechanism i.e the web snapshot restore to fallback to the previous working state.

We are been told web snapshot is not a recommended approach for server running SharePoint web farm.

Snapshots or online VM backups are not supported with SharePoint farms. You need to use standard backup and restore procedures with SharePoint instead, either using Backup-SPFarm or SQL database backups.
