Hi All,

Sorry if this question has been discussed already, cant seem to find any leads on this.

How to prompt users to select the right content type either while uploading a document into library or after uploading a document ?

Or is there a way of making the content type mandatory to select before checkin ? If there is an option to set up workflow, I don't have access to sharepoint designer and can only look at OOB workflows.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

According to your request, you can modify Description of Content Types to create prompt for users. You can change the description from List Settings > Content Types > Name and description section.

If you want to customize the description furthermore, e.g. change colors of the text, you will need to create a custom list form to replace the Default Edit Form. It can be done with Content Editor Web Part.

From the LIBRARY ribbon, click Form Web Parts, and choose the form you want to customize.

Add Content Editor Web Part to the page, and click Edit Source to add below code:

font-weight:Bold; text-transform: uppercase; color:red;

}

</style>

".ms-metadata,.ms-descriptiontext" is the ID of the description. Using F12 to find this ID. You can refer to the below article to find the ID:
