Ok so, I got a call from a customer and he wants to restore the Production SharePoint environment to the test environment. The production has a different topology from the testing environment.

As far as my understanding due to the difference of topologies this is not possible, however, I could not find any documentation that validates what I think.

What do they want to restore? Just content? If so, content databases just need to be restored.
