I'm curious as to why the same app written in c#/xaml (.NET 4.5) runs at around 80% CPU on WES 7, and around 40% on Windows 7 Professional? Same exact hardware/graphics card/settings/hardware acceleration on both. .NET 4.5 installed on both. Seemingly the same setup and options. The only difference I can find is embedded vs. professional.

Is there something I am missing? Or is embedded vs. professional simply that different under the hood?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Just wanted to add - this app is WPF heavy, and from what I can tell from running WPF Performance Suite, most of the CPU is spent on the rendering thread.

We'd like to go with WES7, but we are having difficulty understanding the difference in performance.
