I have used Viso 2010 for some time to generate pdf's for LaTEX report writing.
I just upgraded to Visio 2016, and discovered that when I export a figure to pdf (save as pdf), an annoying frame is visible.
I cannot remember whether or not I changed this behaviour in Visio 2010. I tried browsing for tips but could only find cases where people wanted frames (or borders) around their figures. Note that the Borders & Titles settings are set to No Border and Title !

Does this issue occur to a particular figure? It would be better that you could share some screenshot about this issue then our community members who might have a similar experience can share their solutions accordingly.
Have you tried converting to pdf using other methods such as printing to PDF or via File > Export > Create PDF/XPS?
