We have a web application that was under source control. 

The project is deployed into production. 

Is there a way to remove the project from source control if the original working directory is gone? There is a .vbproj and .vssscc files in the root of the website. Is this is what is needed to remove the source control link?

I need to make minor changes to the application and have good backups of the server and deployed code as it stands.
