Using the Assign Resources dialog, select a task and then assign an Expense Cost resource to thetask and enter a Cost amount for that resource.  Apply the Task Usage view, right-click anywhere in the timephased grid, and select the Cost item on the shortcut menu.  For the Cost resource assigned to the task, you can manually retype (contour) the Cost values for that Cost resource.  Hope this helps.
