I would like some more insight into how Live Smooth Streaming works with CDNs. For example, Limelight are now offering support for Silverlight Smooth Streaming with customer origin - Am I correct in assuming that I can simply create my .ISML in the same folder (on my IIS with Live Smooth Streaming server) that I have pointed Limelight to, use my Limelight CNAME (e.g. http://cdn.example.com/LiveSmooth/Test.isml/Manifest) and then automatically get full CDN distribution capabilities of my live stream?

I have tested this and it seems to work as I expected (the live stream mostly plays fine in the IIS Smooth Streaming Development Kit Beta 2 player, via the Limelight CNAME), but I guess I would just like some confirmation/additional insight regarding the issue.

However, occasinally I will get an error saying "Reached the end of known chunk list with 2 consecutive chunk errors. Buffer cannot progress. ". I'm not quite sure what the reason for that is... That only seems to happen via the CDN, not when I play the stream directly from the IIS server.

You'll have to contact your CDN for more information on how they are distributing Smooth Streaming content, we don't really have any insight or control over that. The error you are seeing, however, means the client was unable to download a particular chunk of audio/video that was requested. This is most likely a bug in Limelight's distribution model, as you said it plays fine from the IIS Server.

I'll see if we have any Limelight contacts here and spin up a thread with them.
