I've got some weird errors ever since I upgraded my Windows Phone 8 Silverlight app to a WP8.1 Silverlight app. While under development, I could deploy the app to my phone and everything worked fine. But when I wanted to put it in the store through an update, there were weird issues around the Provider name, default tiles (that in my opinion are never used so I don't even know what they are doing there, this app is WP only) and some other things that I had to change in the Package.appxmanifest file (manually, the visual editor didn't even contain these fields).

So now the update is in the store and everything worked fine, but I wanted to continue working on the project but suddenly I can't deploy from VS. I think this has to do with the manifest changes but I can't really see the error, all I see is:

So can I do this resigning and why did all this stuff happen in the first place? I'm really careful now with moving my apps to WP8.1, it seems like a migration hell.

I guess the easiest way to fix this for good is to create a new Project/Solution as Silverlight 8.1, copy all the files from your old project and readd them there. At least I assume that it's an easier fix than to edit the files.

Do you still have the old version (pre-upgrade)? Would be interesting to know if trying to do an upgrade again it would break the App as well or if that was a one-off issue.
