We are undertaking a SharePoint 2010 Migration using the Database attach method. Both the source and target farms version are SharePoint 2010.

The original Web Application and Managed Metadata Service Application databases have been migrated. A new Managed Metadata Service Application was created which points to the original database. Whilst testing we have found we are unable to edit
Managed metadata columns for new or existing in items, the fields are disabled and greyed out.
There is an Error message in the ULS logs – Term store not found while validating termset Id.

The Column / Field Term Set IDs matches the Term Set IDs in the Managed Metadata Application.
The Term Set IDs mirror those in the source system.

When inspecting the column settings we can see that the column has become disassociated from the term set. Manually selecting the term set and saving the change fixes the issue.

The farm has many managed metadata columns so a manual fix is not viable. We have seen previous posts and articles that this issue can occur when there are Termset ID (GUID) mismatches but these are not present in our environment.
