Our case is that we have a user whose display name, title and department were changed but neither his username or email were changed in AD.

After Incr. Synchronization for user profile service, I see in the "User Profiles" from central admin that the data are shown correctly but in the application (on browsing for the user) and when I access the user information list, I see his data is not updated so I used the Set-SPUser domain\username -SyncFromAD -web http://sitecollection

and this updated the display name but the title and department are still showing old values so how can I get this updated. I didn't delete the user from user info because he has some WF tasks pending in his account so I couldn't do this.
