I had a SharePoint server named "SHAREPOINT" that was a Single role server. The database for the SharePoint server was stored on a different server. I then migrated the databases to a different SQL server and also am using a different server to host the SharePoint files called "SHAREPOINT-NEW".

Unfortunately when I try to run the SharePoint Configuration for setting up the new server on the database settings page after selecting  "Connect to an existing server farm" I get the error below.

Is there a way to edit the name of the single farm server in the SharePoint_Config database or some other method so I can host the service with this new server?

I guess your farm is a single farm role which can only contain one server. So you can not add a new one to the farm.
