We repaired our sharepoint platform after problems related to previous updates installation.

Search service application is completely missing from central administration > service applications after psconfig. The context toolbar from which we usually deploy search service application has no option regarding search. It looks to me that search service application has not been provisioned.

Also Check what is the status in Product and Patch Installation. Are you able to see the search service there?
