So I'm really having trouble getting a workflow to work.

I need a value from a submitted form to populate another lists column.

1st list is named Laptop Request, 2nd list is named Check Out Devices.

In the 1st list I have a date/time column called Due Date, in the second list I have a text column called Due Date.

I would like to take the value that generates in the Due Date column of the 1st list after the form is submitted and transfer that value to the Due Date column on my 2nd list.

Workflows seemed like an easy solution however I am not having any type of luck whatsoever.

I thought I would be able to whip up something with 'Update item in this list' but I'm so confused on how to set it up.

I wish I had someone knowledgeable to help me with these dialogs instead of telling me to look in the forums saying there are multiple posts that explain, I've looked at a lot of them but the scenarios are just different from mine and I can't seem to replicate what works for them.

You need to create the relationship between your lists , as soon as you user submits the form it will be inserted into second list through WF. You can also have the reference column that correlates the list.

Example: In list 1, you have the ID, you can create the column in second list which can be prefixed with the first list column

If use submit the request in first list that generates the ID, you can insert this in second list with formatted  like "ID-Device-Model".
