I have a SP 2013 List that tracks new employees. Each new employee will have a task assigned to multiple depts. I created a Site Content Type called "New Employee Task Outcome" with several options; Not Started, Completed, Deferred, In Progress, Waiting on Someone Else.

How do I define the Tasks for each Dept? HR will be doing something different from IT. Records and Accounting depts. will have their own tasks. The Site Content type is just the Task Outcome and not the actual Task.

It appears to me you want to add some columns for each task to show the department and type of the task.

You can create a cascade drop down for your task list. End users could select department and the type of task when assign new task to employees. It is possible to add cascade dropdown through InfoPath or some js script.
