Welcome to MSDN forum.

After my research, the Visual Basic team is committed to "It Just Works" compatibility for Visual Basic 6.0 applications and the Visual Basic 6.0 IDE is no longer supported as of April 8, 2008. Refer more here.

In my view of point, the VB3 is older than VB6, so the new update package is not compatible with some components of VB3.

If possible, I suggest you could use VS IDE to develop visual basic programs.
