Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 Screen Capture crashes on startup when my screen resolution is set to 1680x945 (not multiple of 4) on my Sony AW laptop.  The crash does not happen when I change to a different screen resolution 1280x720.

As the FAQ points out, we have a fix for this in our incoming SP1.

And you found out, the best workaround is to choose a resolution thats divisible by 4.
