Hello, 

    So I have an issue where I can not bring in files directly from a sftp server (due to security concerns). Currently the way I (and others) develop on this machine are through basic text editors like notepad++ and other basic editors with sftp plugins. Currently I am looking for a replacement with those tools to something more modern. I have looked at visual studio 2017 and it has a very nice idea of a  "e "Open Folder" feature, which enables you to open a folder of source files and immediately start coding with support for IntelliSense, browsing, refactoring, debugging, and so on." as the statement says. This is pretty important because we don't really have a "project" for this system nor do we plan on making a project. Basically we need a way to have intellisense and "go to definition" type of options. So basically the indexing should be kept in memory (or written out to the file system, which is ok) does visual studio 2017 have that type of functionality? The list is 

SFTP capability 

Building an index with supplied remote directories where source files are kept

With the index having a support for  intellisense 

If i could get a pointer to a right direction that would be greatly appreciated
