i did a full installation of the visual studio community software and after a long wait, it ended successfully. I opened the app and it was working fine. So after a while, i decided to make sure everything had installed. i went back to the VS setup and clicked modify. Then i discovered that the 'common tools for visual c++' was not checked so i did so i checked it and clicked upgrade. The setup ran for a while and showed that all selected item(s) had been installed but when i went back to check, 'common tools for visual c++' was still not checked. I've done this thrice with the same result. Please what do i do?

PS: i already had a c++ compiler (not from VS) installed in my pc. I wonder if VS simply decided not to make a duplicate?.

In Visual Studio 2015, Visual C++ is not installed by default. When installing, be sure to choose Custom installation and then choose the C++ components you require. Or, if Visual Studio is already installed, choose File | New | Project | C++ and you will be prompted to install the necessary components. After this, we could create c++ projects in visual studio 2015.
