I am very new to sharepoint and have been assigned as a knowledge management coordinator. I have several departments that report status' to the manager using excel. We would like to keep these status reports at the individual department pages but also have a status webpart on the company mainpage with just the name of the report and a stoplight style indicator. I have tried linking the individual spreadsheets to a "status" collection spreadsheet and then linking that sheet to a Visio sheet to feed a visio webpart status, but I kept getting errors that there was no data in the indicator. Next I tried copying the spreadsheet cell into the visio sheet, but the visio sheet wouldnt update unless both the excel and visio were open. This would require me having to open, relink the visio to the status excel sheet and not as automated as I would like.

I know this seems like alot of non-sense, I can upload images of the sheets if this would be easier but that would mean basically remaking the documents. But if it would help, I can.
