I am trying to find a way to prevent Sharepoint 2013 Daily Summary Alert emails from displaying newly added documents 3 times: once as New, and twice as Edit.

We have recently upgraded from Sharepoint 2005 > 2007 > 2010 > 2013 in the span of a few days and have since created an alert on a document library with the following settings:

The resulting alert email comes through with each newly added file displaying a New entry, as well as a pair of Edit entries for the same timestamp.  File audit records show that each file has only been handled once as part of the New record action.

Deleting and rebuilding the alert does not change this behaviour.

Online searches for similar issues only brings up another Technet forum post from 2011, encountering the exact same problem in Sharepoint 2010 (Title: "SharePoint 2010 daily summary email alerts contain duplicate entries (new!, edit, edit)" which I cannot directly link until my account is verified.)  Posts from there indicate the fix should have been part of Sharepoint 2013, but I haven’t seen evidence of that myself.

Versioning is disabled, no workflows are enabled, no custom columns being used.

Hi Peter- sounds like a glitch, but just to be sure, disable check in/out, publishing and approval if they're turned on. Compare the result.

Also, (don't think this is an issue, but try it) if you have any date columns defaulted to today, get rid of the default. Make sure you don't have any calculated columns that may be updating. Do you have content types? Have they been changed?
